By then it had spread to Italy. The World Health Organisation initially denied that it was a pandemic<span class=\"footnote_referrer\"><a role=\"button\" tabindex=\"0\" onclick=\"footnote_moveToReference_789_1('footnote_plugin_reference_789_1_1');\" onkeypress=\"footnote_moveToReference_789_1('footnote_plugin_reference_789_1_1');\" ><sup id=\"footnote_plugin_tooltip_789_1_1\" class=\"footnote_plugin_tooltip_text\">[1]<\/sup><\/a><span id=\"footnote_plugin_tooltip_text_789_1_1\" class=\"footnote_tooltip\"><a href=\"https:\/\/hrvhealth.org\/blog\/?p=39\">The great vaccinate debate<\/a><\/span><\/span><script type=\"text\/javascript\"> jQuery('#footnote_plugin_tooltip_789_1_1').tooltip({ tip: '#footnote_plugin_tooltip_text_789_1_1', tipClass: 'footnote_tooltip', effect: 'fade', predelay: 0, fadeInSpeed: 200, delay: 400, fadeOutSpeed: 200, position: 'top center', relative: true, offset: [-7, 0], });<\/script>, and then suddenly changed their minds.<\/p>\n<p>Covid mortality rates became daily headlines.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>In the developed world, hospital systems were being overwhelmed, and the press was predicting catastrophe for refugee camps, and countries that did not have the level of hospital care that the rich countries enjoy.<\/p>\n<p>And that\u2019s where it starts to get interesting. Those of us with a fascination for numbers could already see that it was the countries that suffer highest obesity rates that were the worst affected<span class=\"footnote_referrer\"><a role=\"button\" tabindex=\"0\" onclick=\"footnote_moveToReference_789_1('footnote_plugin_reference_789_1_2');\" onkeypress=\"footnote_moveToReference_789_1('footnote_plugin_reference_789_1_2');\" ><sup id=\"footnote_plugin_tooltip_789_1_2\" class=\"footnote_plugin_tooltip_text\">[2]<\/sup><\/a><span id=\"footnote_plugin_tooltip_text_789_1_2\" class=\"footnote_tooltip\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.arcgis.com\/apps\/dashboards\/bda7594740fd40299423467b48e9ecf6\">COVID-19 Dashboard\u00a0by the Center for Systems Science and Engineering (CSSE) at Johns Hopkins University (JHU)<\/a><\/span><\/span><script type=\"text\/javascript\"> jQuery('#footnote_plugin_tooltip_789_1_2').tooltip({ tip: '#footnote_plugin_tooltip_text_789_1_2', tipClass: 'footnote_tooltip', effect: 'fade', predelay: 0, fadeInSpeed: 200, delay: 400, fadeOutSpeed: 200, position: 'top center', relative: true, offset: [-7, 0], });<\/script>.<\/p>\n<p>It was already becoming evident that the most vulnerable were people who have a pre-existing condition. The data now confirms that to be true. Eighty five percent of the mortalities from Covid are people with a co-morbidity. The economic decline, exacerbated by the war in Ukraine, is the result.<\/p>\n<p>Britain who were amongst the most vigorous in their implementation, are the G20 country that will suffer the worst economic performance of the group this year<span class=\"footnote_referrer\"><a role=\"button\" tabindex=\"0\" onclick=\"footnote_moveToReference_789_1('footnote_plugin_reference_789_1_5');\" onkeypress=\"footnote_moveToReference_789_1('footnote_plugin_reference_789_1_5');\" ><sup id=\"footnote_plugin_tooltip_789_1_5\" class=\"footnote_plugin_tooltip_text\">[5]<\/sup><\/a><span id=\"footnote_plugin_tooltip_text_789_1_5\" class=\"footnote_tooltip\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.com\/news\/business-65240749\">UK to be one of worst performing economies this year, predicts IMF<\/a><\/span><\/span><script type=\"text\/javascript\"> jQuery('#footnote_plugin_tooltip_789_1_5').tooltip({ tip: '#footnote_plugin_tooltip_text_789_1_5', tipClass: 'footnote_tooltip', effect: 'fade', predelay: 0, fadeInSpeed: 200, delay: 400, fadeOutSpeed: 200, position: 'top center', relative: true, offset: [-7, 0], });<\/script>. Yes, made worse by Brexit.<\/p>\n<p>Then came the vaccine. You had to have the vaccine on order to socialise or to travel. That was to ensure that you did not transmit the disease to others.<\/p>\n<p>But that was complete nonsense.<\/p>\n<p>The vaccine prevents neither infection nor transmission. Yes, it prevents the vulnerable from dying from the disease, but forcing people who did not need the vaccine to have the vaccine so that they were allowed to carry on with their lives was either morally corrupt, or incompetent, or both.<\/p>\n<p>The medical profession supported those policies. The drug companies profited from them. And we are now suffering the consequences.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>As a result, economies are suffering, and worse yet, people have died. People who should have been receiving treatments could not get them because the hospitals were overwhelmed<span class=\"footnote_referrer\"><a role=\"button\" tabindex=\"0\" onclick=\"footnote_moveToReference_789_1('footnote_plugin_reference_789_1_6');\" onkeypress=\"footnote_moveToReference_789_1('footnote_plugin_reference_789_1_6');\" ><sup id=\"footnote_plugin_tooltip_789_1_6\" class=\"footnote_plugin_tooltip_text\">[6]<\/sup><\/a><span id=\"footnote_plugin_tooltip_text_789_1_6\" class=\"footnote_tooltip\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/health\/cancer-patients-covid-effect\/2021\/02\/26\/cab3c26c-7608-11eb-9537-496158cc5fd9_story.html\">Cancer patients often can\u2019t get full care with covid-19 bogging down medical facilities<\/a><\/span><\/span><script type=\"text\/javascript\"> jQuery('#footnote_plugin_tooltip_789_1_6').tooltip({ tip: '#footnote_plugin_tooltip_text_789_1_6', tipClass: 'footnote_tooltip', effect: 'fade', predelay: 0, fadeInSpeed: 200, delay: 400, fadeOutSpeed: 200, position: 'top center', relative: true, offset: [-7, 0], });<\/script>, and there was a shortage of medical personal, partially because people who were infected were not allowed to work.<\/p>\n<p>Others, who had no need for the vaccine, died after receiving it<span class=\"footnote_referrer\"><a role=\"button\" tabindex=\"0\" onclick=\"footnote_moveToReference_789_1('footnote_plugin_reference_789_1_7');\" onkeypress=\"footnote_moveToReference_789_1('footnote_plugin_reference_789_1_7');\" ><sup id=\"footnote_plugin_tooltip_789_1_7\" class=\"footnote_plugin_tooltip_text\">[7]<\/sup><\/a><span id=\"footnote_plugin_tooltip_text_789_1_7\" class=\"footnote_tooltip\"><a href=\"https:\/\/hrvhealth.org\/blog\/?p=719\">Australia bans the use of the AstraZeneca vaccine<\/a><\/span><\/span><script type=\"text\/javascript\"> jQuery('#footnote_plugin_tooltip_789_1_7').tooltip({ tip: '#footnote_plugin_tooltip_text_789_1_7', tipClass: 'footnote_tooltip', effect: 'fade', predelay: 0, fadeInSpeed: 200, delay: 400, fadeOutSpeed: 200, position: 'top center', relative: true, offset: [-7, 0], });<\/script>.<\/p>\n<p>There is other evidence:<\/p>\n<p>People in refugee camps were hardly affected at all, in spite of the fact that the draconian measures implemented in the rich world were impossible to enforce in those environments.<\/p>\n<p>When China eventually lifted its lockdown, millions of people became infected, many of them intentionally, but the mortality rates were subdued.<\/p>\n<p>There is a significant body of the population who have lost faith in the medical profession as a whole.
